EVENTS: ECOBREEDS field visits support the evaluation of the Croatian pilot action

As part of the ECOBREEDS project, AZRRI – Agency for Rural Development of Istria carried out field visits to livestock breeders and family farms participating in the Croatian pilot action, “Route of Istria’s Indigenous Breeds”. The visits formed an important part of the pilot activity evaluation process, focusing on the collection of information related to farm structure, management practices and economic performance.

During the visits, AZRRI representatives conducted interviews with breeders using a dedicated questionnaire designed to assess the economic characteristics of farms and gather farmers’ opinions on livestock production, farm management and the challenges associated with raising indigenous livestock breeds. The collected data provide valuable insights into production systems, farm organisation and the long-term sustainability of traditional pastoral farming.

The information gathered through the field surveys will support the evaluation of the Croatian pilot action and contribute to the development of evidence-based recommendations for strengthening sustainable pastoral systems, preserving local livestock breeds and improving the resilience of rural communities. The activity also provides an important basis for assessing the socio-economic impact of the pilot action and supporting future policy recommendations within the ECOBREEDS project.
