Project Summary

ECOBREEDS is a dynamic three-year initiative dedicated to safeguarding and revitalizing pastoralism across the ADRION region. By championing sustainable grazing practices, preserving local livestock breeds and protecting the remarkable floristic diversity and wildlife in High Nature Value areas, ECOBREEDS empowers rural communities while conserving natural habitats.
This ambitious project leverages a collaborative, cross-border approach to co-create solutions with local actors, experts and institutions. Key outputs include a comprehensive Strategy for Pastoralism along with an Action Plan, as well as at least two Pilot Actions to demonstrate practical solutions for sustainable pastoral systems and local breeds. ECOBREEDS also strives to establish an enabling and harmonized policy framework that fosters economic, social and environmental resilience.
A special focus is placed on vulnerable groups, bridging innovation gaps among countries and ensuring all stakeholders benefit from new opportunities. Through the co-creation of solutions, knowledge-sharing events and the dissemination of cutting-edge information, ECOBREEDS equips pastoral actors with the skills needed to adapt and thrive. By bringing together innovative thinking and real-world collaboration, ECOBREEDS paves the way for a sustainable, resilient future for pastoral communities throughout the ADRION region.
